The site is free and provided as is. A few things worth knowing.
Strike data is collected from OPEN SOURCES: reports, photos and videos published online, and from the records of people who have been cross-checking them for years. We are not a primary source and do not guarantee completeness. Found an error? Tell us via “Report an error” — we will check and fix it.
“Burned” is only used when there is objective confirmation from several sources — photos or video showing the site is beyond repair. “Hit” means the strike is confirmed by objective data, but the extent of the damage is unknown and/or does not take the site out of operation for long. Claims by either side, on their own, never change a status.
Sometimes sources agree that a strike happened but disagree on WHERE: a city has three warehouses run by different companies, and reports name only one. We mark such cards “object in doubt” and say what exactly is unclear. The caveat is about the address of the strike, not about whether it happened — that is what the confidence level in the “Verification” block is for.
Floor areas, capacities and volumes come from public sources and therefore carry an error margin: open data can be outdated, rounded, or refer to the whole plant rather than the part that was hit. NO RELIABLE SOURCE for the footprint of such sites exists at all, so every area on this site is approximate and carries a “≈” sign. Some areas we measure ourselves — from satellite imagery and building outlines from OpenStreetMap; hover over a figure to see where it came from. That is exactly why we ask you to report inaccuracies — every correction with a source makes the figures closer to reality.
We show THE SITE AS A WHOLE, not the points of impact within it: a marker on the map is the plant, not the coordinates of a strike. Pinpointing impacts is what GeoConfirmed does — that is their specialty, and precise geolocation belongs there.
The dark theme is available to active patrons and works while the pledge is active. It is not a product or a service: the pledge supports the project, and the theme is a thank-you for it. Pledges are created and cancelled on Patreon's side under their rules.
